Once I had
decided on what I wanted to produce – a newspaper – I needed to find out about
possible ways to print the final design.
I contacted
The Newspaper Club and requested some samples on all the different types of
newspapers that they print.
The sample
that they sent ranged from Digital Minis to Traditional Broadsheet.
The samples
came with a very good amount of information on them showing how colours,
blacks, point sizes and the processes affect the print.

From looking
at these I ideally would like to print using the TRADITIONAL TABLOID format,
however, there is an issue with this. The traditional printing method has a
smallest batch size of 500 and this is far too much and would be a waste of resources
and money as it is more expensive than a single digital print. I wanted to use
the traditional method as it feels and appears more like a newspaper, which is
really what I want. The reason I chose tabloid as I though it is the easiest,
most common and most effective way of publishing my work – the MINI would be
too small and the BROARDSHEET is too large.
As well as
the samples with the information on them, they also sent through some examples.
